Dr. Scott Leischow: Taxing the Habit

Dr. Scott Leischow, professor in the UA College of Medicine, discusses the impact of increased cigarette taxes on getting smokers to kick the habit. Leischow is an expert in smoking cessation and serves as president of the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco, the premier worldwide scientific organization dedicated to tobacco control research. He previously served for five years in the federal government as chief of the Tobacco Control Research Branch at the National Cancer Institute, and as senior adviser for tobacco policy in the Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
