ADHS Hiring: Wellness & Physical Activity Coordinator

THE POSITION: The Wellness and Physical Activity Coordinator will lead and direct statewide work site wellness and physical activity programs including the administration of more than $500,000 in local contracts for physical activity programs, develop effective collaborative efforts with internal and external partners to promote physical activity, utilize public health data to develop and prioritize policy and community-based interventions to promote physical activity and work-site wellness, translate physical activity guidelines and recommendation to inform, and serve as a technical expert in the are of exercise physiology and related exercise science in public health setting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES (KSAs): Knowledge of current physical activity guidelines and recommendations to accurately inform the process of intervention, including policy development; evidence-based strategies for promoting physical activity.  Knowledge of the effects of physical activity on reducing chronic disease risk factors (hypertension, dyslipidemia, triglycerides, insulin sensitivity, body fatness).  The ideal candidate would ha e a Master’s degree in public health, health education, exercise science, nutrition, or other related field. Three years of experience related to physical activity or worksite wellness programs which included program planning or administration.  Meet credentialing requirements of the American College of Sports Medicine as a Physical Activity in Public Health Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), or the credentialing requirements of the Commission on Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian. Bilingual in Spanish and English.
