BTCD welcomes new Chronic Disease Office Chief, Tim Vaske

I’m pleased to announce that Mr. Tim Vaske has accepted our offer to serve as the Office Chief, Chronic Disease Programs with the ADHS Bureau of Tobacco & Chronic Disease. In this position, Tim will be responsible for managing staff and working with our statewide networks in developing programs that yield measured impact on the health and cost burdens across Arizona in several areas, including cancer, heart disease, lung disease, stroke, diabetes, and asthma.

Tim brings a strong track record of creating policy and systems change that are both outcomes-oriented and sustainable – two features that are imperative to building a healthier Arizona. Since June 2007 Tim Vaske has worked as the Government Relations Director for the American Heart Association in Arizona. In this position he’s worked on advancing legislation and initiatives impacting heart disease and stroke prevention and systems in the state, including passage of automated external defibrillator civil liability protection legislation and advancing health systems impacting stroke and acute cardiovascular care. Prior to joining the American Heart Association, Tim worked at the American Cancer Society in Nebraska where he focused on coalition and grassroots engagement on issues and policies addressing cancer prevention and screenings, as well as youth tobacco prevention and clean indoor air.

I’m excited to bring a person of Tim’s caliber to this critical position, and look forward to working with him as we make even more progress in the prevention, detection, and effective management of chronic disease. Please join me in welcoming Tim in his new duties, which he will assume on April 4th. Thank you.
