As part of our ‘Slice of Life’ initiatives that work in concert with STAND, we launched an art contest called the ‘Art of Resistance’ earlier this month.
Three workshops in Peoria, Yuma and Kingman were given by anti-tobacco artist Albert Ortiz. Mr. Ortiz shared what influenced his artistic direction through the injustices of the tobacco company mixed with pop culture. This mix has created memorable works of art featured at past National Conferences on Tobacco or Health in Phoenix and Kansas City respectively.
In conjunction with Mr. Ortiz’s workshops, STAND launched an art contest that took a 21st century approach to what Mr. Ortiz had done. The submissions are online at: www.standaz.com/the-art-of-resistance-art-contest.
Please visit this link, view/vote and then pass it to your youth or anyone else who may be interested. The artwork presented was done by high school age students. The deadline for voting is May 26th. You can vote once per day. The finalists will be showcased at the STAND Summer Conference.
